My Top 11 Summer Jams

IT’S OFFICIALLY SUMMER! Which is painfully obvious in Southern California. We had a brief heatwave, with temperatures in the 100s for a few days. It was slight torture. (We have a pool, so it wasn’t all bad) But with everyone talking about the first day of Summer, I got to thinking of my favorite songs for the season. Some of them I’ve been listening to for years, while others are new favorites. Either way, they are all my Summer jams for 2016!

1. Summertime – Kenny Chesney: This is a given. It’s a classic Summer song!
2. Like We Did (Windows Down) – The Maine: The Maine is in my top 3 favorite bands (that isn’t in the country genre) and this particular song is one of my absolute favorites. It reminds me of the summers I spent running around Orange County beaches with my best friends.
3. Boys of Summer – The Ataris: This song is a classic for me. (Yes, it’s a cover. The original is by Don Henley.) I first heard this song in the Summer of 2003 in the backseat of my friend’s dad’s car. I don’t know why this song (or the entire album) stuck with me, but oh man, did it!
4. Beachin’ – Jake Owen: I’m a fan of new country. I know it’s slightly lame, but it’s also very catchy and I just can’t help singing along.
5. Pontoon – Little Big Town: I’m not a big fan of being on boats, but this song makes me want to be on a boat… Or a pontoon, whatever the difference is.
6. Am I Pretty? – The Maine: This song says nothing about summer, but the tune is so upbeat and catchy, I can’t WAIT to listen to it, windows down, driving up Pacific Coast Highway. πŸ™‚
7. Sunny and 75 – Joe Nichols: This song made the list because of the title; it’s the perfect Southern California weather.
8. Drink to That All Night – Jerrod Niemann: This song is for the party girl in me. Which comes out rarely, has a few drinks, and then is in bed by midnight.
9. Summer of ’69 – Bryan Adams: This is a CLASSIC classic. No explanation needed.
10. Days of Gold – Jake Owen: Just another lame, catchy song I can’t help but know all the words to.
11. El Camino – Frankie Ballard: I’ve had this song on repeat for about a week now & I can’t seem to get enough of it… It made the list for that alone.

You can listen to ALL these songs on SPOTIFY. The best place to listen to music, ever.

Let’s talk. What are some of your favorite songs for Summer? Do you have any recent favorites for Summer 2016?
